Boost Your Business with Custom Audio Plugin Development

This year has been like no other. In just a few short months, the recording process has completely changed.

Musicians, producers, sound engineers, and others in the audio space have had to adapt to completely unnatural circumstances: to make music collaboratively and individually.

Faced with that challenge, our mission was to stay true to our belief that remote collaboration of audio production should be as close to in-person collaboration as possible. Over the past few months, HEAR360 has been busy helping Sessionwire advance their mission of being able to record, mix, and collaborate live with others anywhere in the world using any recording software. Our partnership with Sessionwire allowed us to continue our HEAR360 vision to enhance the productivity and work quality of high-end audio professionals no matter their platform, whether a DAW or console.

Sessionwire’s platform allows users to send and receive high-quality audio streams to and from DAWs and other connected users in real-time. Not only can you stream or listen to a high-quality audio production project, but you can also communicate with talkback controls set up to simulate a traditional studio producer / artist communication process. With the addition of high quality video, Sessionwire creates the intimate connection that we need to collaborate creatively. Sessionwire came to HEAR360 to help develop the Pro Audio plugin tools that bridge the gap between your DAW, and Sessionwire’s stand-alone and web applications, and to make that connection process as intuitive and seamless as possible.

Plugins: Why Now?

Now, more than ever, engineers, musicians, and sound artists can use plugins to enhance their productivity without sacrificing quality. As the lines between analog and digital began to blur (and modeling techniques improved), we understood that something big was coming. Plugins weren’t going to be just a trend, they were going to change recording for the better.

“I started working in the industry during the transition from consoles to DAWs, from outboard gear to plugins and software. As the capabilities of the software grew, we realized that plugins were good enough to compete with outboard gear, especially when project budgets started to get smaller. During that time, I saw the transition to plugins as a natural process, and how they restored production budgets for the better.”  - Matt Marrin, CEO

For composers and artists, plugins are a simple, collaborative solution that save time and money. You only need your sound, a DAW, and some great plugins to start making music immediately.

Continual advancements in plugins have made them not just onboard effects, but integral parts of the recording process.

Make no mistake: we love hardware. 8Ball is one of our greatest labors-of-love. But physical products, in many cases, are more difficult to design, produce, and market. Plugins can be built relatively quickly, with more control over quality, and made accessible for all.

We build stuff meant for digital and the future. We believe the barrier to entry for audio developers and inventors (heck, even daydreamers) should be lowered. With the right guidance, plugin development can be not only achievable, but also affordable.

Now Entering: The Department of Sound

Whether for our clients or for fun, we explore the forefront of technology with every plugin we develop. Until now, these technologies have only been available to high-level experts in the field.

The Department of Sound is our custom audio plugin platform–totally separate from HEAR360. The site will sell plugins, but not just our plugins.

We’ve taken inspiration from ValhallaDSP. Inspired by their forward-thinking culture, and no-frills approach to development, we’re turning The Department of Sound into a hand-picked marketplace for other developers, big and small, to feature and sell their plugins.

With over 30+ years in recording, mixing, and creating audio solutions, we know that large companies, small businesses, and independent product designers are as passionate about sound as us. We also know that securing resources for developing a custom audio plugin can be a total headache!

That’s why, in addition to our curated selection of audio tools, we’re offering services to usher in a new generation of powerful, cutting-edge plugins. We’ll provide a trusted advisor and industry know-it-all to help you (or your team) with all the moving parts in a product rollout.

“Plugins are an amazing way to bring your ideas to life quickly.” - Greg Morgenstein, CTO
